according to www.fueleconomy.org

and 85 gets 16/22 the only reason i put a 85 is cause they don't go back to 82. I would imagine it is going to be right in there. It might be more or less. I do know that if you do 55 you get optimal MPG. Check out that site, it should be helpful. With the cost of gas I would just invest in a geo metro instead of paying for gas in your bird. It would probably come out close considering the great gas mileage they get.

It will be a little less, because IIRC, '82 did not have the OD transmissions like '83-92 did.

They just had the 3 speed auto, and 4 speed manual, all with final gears of 1:1.

Some 82's had the 200R4, a buddy of mine had one several years ago. It had crossfire injection though.

82s didn't have the 200-4R. They had the 200C..... lockup clutch but no OD.

In any case, when new, they should have done around 20 mpg on the highway. If it's important to you to get close to its actual fuel usage in its current condition, which may or may not be similar to original, I'd recommend filling it up at a freeway exit, driving it about 20 miles (like 10 miles one way, turn around at an exit, and come back), then filling it up again; and seeing how much it used.
