timeing problem
Hello all..
Have a 89 350 TPI with a timeing issue......I have set my timeing to 5 deg advanced and the car idles great......"snap throttle is kinda lame(@ throttle body lever)...so i pulled the trigger on my timeing light while opening the throttle up slowly to about 3,000 rpm's..the motor rise's up..timeing too....but slowly...then the ECM seams to retard the timeing right away while I still have the throttle opened. No caughing or popping...the motor just starts to lay down. Now this of course does not work on the road, the car just lays down....just like a lack of fuel psi would ....BUT I have plenty there.I set it to 45psi..with the vac disconnected and plugged....plug it back in and she runs @ 43.5 all day long.I guess I 'm asking "What" is causeing the timeing to retard..rather than advance like it should when throttle is applied???? It has a 350 knock sensor in it..any idea's???? trying to save diag time by asking you all.hope I'm giveing enough info..just ask away if you need more.
thanks for your time
