Here is the deal, I have a 92 camaro v6 and I did the airbox mod, where you take it out. Then I started to get SES light on and off for a minute or two every couple times I drove it, since im affriad of that paperclip thing to get the code, I didn't get the code, so don't know which one it was. I put the box back in and, and the SES light stayed off. Fast foward 2 weeks and on the way home last night it came on and stayed on the whole way home. I knew I had a litte oil leak, so I added a quart of oil. I leave it in the driveway all day, tonight i went to take my girlfriend home and, the damn thing wont start. It switches past the on positon, but nothing at all happens, no starter noise, nothing. I took out my JETchip that I have had in it for over a year, so the mechanic can do the computer diagnostic thing. It still wont start. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone, or if anyone knows what it is. Because, I am not good enough to do the work myself, I just want to make sure the mechanic doesn't take me for more than it is. This really pisses me off, because every 3 months something happens. Im so frustrated, I love my car but I almost want to sell it and buy a car that I can better rely on.
Tough Luck Bro, sometimes It seems like it never ends.
The First thing I have to say, Is that performance cars are not for the Faint at heart. High performance cars are High Upkeep, No matter what you look at. Even your V6 haha
With that in Mind, Keep your Chin up. The best advice I can offer is to Learn How to Fix it yourself, Or Find a higher paying Job. Paying for labor Is expensive, and unreliable.
At least If I do something, and Do it wrong, I know whats wrong, and Don't have to wait on some dumbass mech to fiddle around with a car he dosent really care about, and take blind stabs at the problem.

What really is happening is that you don't have enough confidence in yourself. Have faith in yourself and know that if you try to fix something on your car or ANYTHING, sometimes you will do it right and sometimes you will do it wrong. It feels great to do it right the first time, but it does'nt always work like that. Making mistakes is not fun, but mistakes need to be looked at and as tools to help us do it better the next time. It's not whether you fall down, it's whether you get back up. The same codes should be in your computer as before if you havent disconnected the battery. Use the paperclip, do it exactly as it says and you will be able to see what the hell is going on.
this may sound dumb.. but it almost sounds like an alternator, i had this sort of thing happen once..
or the CHIP. my friend installed the chip in his 1992 RS. and one of the prongs were bent and it did the same thing!.

Jiffy, One big flaw in our cars well at least in the two 3gens i have is that stupid switch
under the steering columb. "cant remember the name of it
" But that is what it sounds like it has two rods conecting to it and is conected to the shifter. If that switch is bad it will cut out the starter.
Dont give up the more problems you overcome now the less you will have in the future.

Just one thing: some mechanics don't like it when you do that. Imagine someone hovering over you at your job and watching everything you do and you'll see what I mean.
When you did the mod, did you disconnect anything and forget to reconnect it? (vac line, IAT/MAT plug, etc?)

That's what I'm thinking, Jza.. that the MAT was forgotton.
Jiffy, if you've swapped the computer chip, that's more "scary" than checking codes with a paperclip. Also, buy the Haynes 82-92 manual, and start doing the work yourself. We've all started somewhere; sounds like it's your turn!
