PCV question....

Where it goes into the valve cover on the passenger side is kind of loose, not very tight. Do you think I need a new one? Or do I need a new rubber piece thats on the valve cover where it goes into? (Are these even available?)

Thanks!

Yes you should get a new VC grommet, you can get them at any autoparts place. You might as well get a new PCV too while your at it, they are very cheap.

yup, i second the VC grommet replacement idea, they are at most autoparts stores for cheap, either in the shiney-but-doesn't-go-too-fast-though section or in the Help! section.

Its a grommet. It will pop out. Think of an hourglass design. Just really really REALLY squished....and made of rubber, not sand.

I take a sharp screwdriver and jam it into the inner side of it and lever it out. Takes a little massaging, but it will pop out.

Its probably old and brittle now. It will probably just crack in half, and you can pullout the pieces. Make sure nothing falls in, or you will have to try and vacuum it out with a shop vac.

Eh, that's a good point. Remove the valve cover first, put it on the ground, then purposly break it.

passenger side? I think the PCV is on the driver side valve cover. There is something on the passenger side valve cover (with TPI) that looks very similar to a PCV valve when you look at it, but when you pull it, you'll notice its hollow and runs to the TPI throttle body. Can't think of the damn name of that thing.

Anyway.....It had been so long since I changed by PCV I almost put it in the passenger side by mistake. OOops.

Its a 90 deg elbow that takes a small hose from the rear passenger side valve cover to the TPI. Available at the dealer for a couple of bucks. Its not the groment for the PCV valve thats pictured but it may reguire one.
