There's a number of things you could do...

A complete flushing of the coolant system wouldn't hurt..

A new thermostat and radiator cap wouldn't either, and they're not expensive at all.

You could make the fans come on at a lower temperature, either by buying a new chip or by turning the AC on.

Pop in a 160 thermostat and get you an adjustable fan switch! There are some expensive adjustable fan switch kits out there! If you have an autozone there you can get one for $20 there! That's where I got mine and I've had it hooked up for over 2 years with no probs!! The ECM needs to see 173 degrees to work properly! With my setup, my car runs right about 175 all the time!! You'll have to "test and tune" to get it set right!! Then, in the winter you can put a 180 back in so your heater will work properly and you can adjust the fan switch back up for the 180!! That's what I do here in MO! (Sometimes I leave the 160 in through winter too tho)

82,

Enkil covered it pretty well. There are only a couple of other odd things to check.

1. Make sure the radiator and AC condenser are clean on the OUTSIDE as well. The space between the two is often a good place to find a collection of grass, leaves, seeds, paper, road debris (that Honda you blew away and then disappeared from view - it's pro'lly in there too), etc.

2. Make sure the air deflectors installed on the lower radiator support are in place and not broken. These are important to direct air through the radiator instead of around it.

Redline's water wetter seems to work quite well.

Car: currently thirdgenless!!!
It gets just a little hot here in phx too. Got up to 116 last week and I think it was 109 today.

I do the cooling system flush and the cleaning out the radiator.
I still have the factory thermostat in and have not had a problem. The car actually runs cooler if the a/c is on.

This may sound strange to some people, but I am a firm believer that a clean engine is a cooler engine. Once a month with simple green and a power washer does a fine job.

160 degrees thermo

I swear by the 160 degree thermo stat. And I leave it in the winter. Never had a problem with my heater.
