Whats the correct way to install valve seals?
Well they leaked the first time I installed them. I used a rubber mallet to coax them all the way on and I probably messed some of them up.
Is there a better way to put them on?

there is a " special tool" that looks like a plastic sleeve to prevent damage to the seal goes on the valve tip andthe seal slides on. helps to use a little oil and maybe push the seal with a socket

I always take some 600 grit sandpaper and make a quick pass around the valve stem tip and the keeper groove, to eliminate any burrs or sharp edges that might damage the sealing surface to the stem; and use a socket to push them on.... gently and carefully.
I don't generally use the little sleeve tool.
I find it easier to put the valves in first, then put the seals on.

Well, them seals look like the seals off of a set of Vortex heads?
I just installed a set of Sealed Power seals (XUA-MV1888) on a set of "993" heads and they came with a clear plastic sleeve. These seals are for a .562" guide and a .343" (11/32) valve stem. This clear plastic sleeve "must" be installed over the valve stem to prevent the seal from being damaged when it is pushed on to the valve guide. I lube all moving parts with #80w gear oil including the seal. I use a 3/8" drive 7/16 deep well socket to install the seals. I do not use valve stem o-rings or valve spring shields because of the positive seal that these type of seals provide I use the same seal on both the int. and exh.
