383 Stroker oil pan choices?

I'm getting ready to seal up the bottom end of my 383 stroker. I wanted to know what oil pans you guys are using for your stroker engines. I'm using the Eagle ESP kit with Hbeam 5.7 rods. I also wanted to use a windage tray if possible.

I used the stock pan. Just snugged it up and rotated the engine by hand. I could feel one rod hitting. Removed the pan, looked for the scuff mark, and just "tweaked" it with a hammer. Needed only slight amount of clearancing. BTW i have Eagle 6 inch H-beam rods. HTH.

the canton pan works great as well and it comes with a built in windage and trap door for the oil pickup

What block?

1-piece rear main seal or 2-piece? pass side dipstick or driver's side?

Nobody can pick a pan that will work without knowing those things.

i used the stock pan and used a hammer to bang out the spots where the rods hit. I did not use any windage tray. I orginally cut out a couple holes in the stock one but I could nto find any ARP bolts thatheld the oil pump AND windage tray on. I guess GM used a stud for this and then put a second nut on the stud after the tray was installed. I didnt want to reuse those 3 old studs and use ARP bolts for the rest so I just did with out the tray. I hope I dont kick myself for making that decision

Says max stroke for that moroso (MOR-20180) is a 350 crank, does it clear a 400 crank or not? I have a 350 right now but I really wouldnt wanna buy another oil pan if i decide to throw a 383 in there.

Whaddya think? If it would fit a 400 stroke, would they have said that the max stroke it will fit is the 350? Or do you suppose, maybe they would have said something else?

I sure wouldn't buy it and expect it to work in that combo, given what they say. Sounds like they have some BTDT so I'd listen to them. But that's just me.

Who, me? Jackass? I just quoted you, that's all. Sorry if it hurt. Sometimes the mirror is a bit harsh when somebody else holds it in front of one.

It's also possible that with "minor modifications" (read: beat it with a BFH) that it could be made to fit. It's also possible that what rods you use may impact that, just like it does block clearancing and cam selection. In other words, it's about guaranteed not to fit a stock 400 setup (stock rods), but when used with parts other than that, how could they or anybody else possibly answer that question?

Thats a little harsh... we're only trying to help here.

I'd do what most people do... use the stock pan. If it does hit, pull out your BFH and make room. Its not hard if you take your time and be careful. Its ALOT cheaper and quicker than buying a new pan and waiting for it to get to you anyway.
