Problem is, prices vary wildly. Basically you pay somebody by the hour to do it. The quality (effectiveness) of the job depends on how good the guy doing it is ($$$/hr) and how much attention to detail he spends on them (# of hrs). For a premium job, it's lots of hours, times lots of $$$$/hr.

If there's a factory CNC port & chamber option available on the particular heads you want, you might want to look at getting that instead of having it done after the fact. You may end up with results very near the best possible hand-porting job, for $$$ very near the most basic hand job.

well i looked into it and the close guys that are actually good run $600 to hand port my heads since they dont have a cnc program for these......not worth it to me when the heads cost less than $800 complete

Assuming your motor is stock.. or close to, I wouldn't touch them just yet. Those heads flow very well out of the box, and would be more than adequate for the time being... but that's just my opinion.

ha nope. not stock, they are going on my 383 HSR, comp 230/236 .544/.555, forged bottom end and spray. but i dont justify spending that much on a port for $800 heads, of they were AFR's this would be a different story.....:lala:
