felpro head gaskets

I have edelbrock aluminum heads. the guy that built the engine used felpro 7733pt2 gaskets. edelbrock says to use felpro 1003.

anyone know what the difference is? could this be why I had a head gasket leak?

thanks

Compare one of each against the head. You might have some obvious problems with the fit of one or the other.

The 1003s are designed for aluminum heads. That doesn't mean the 7733pt2s won't work. Also the 7733pt2s aren't anything special, just regular stock replacement gaskets whereas the 1003 are the nice permatorque units. The 7733pt2 may be only be 4" diameter, i have no idea, but if they are that would cause problems if your engine has been bored. On second thought i doubt anyone makes a 4" diameter gasket, they are usually larger than the bore size. On looking at a picture of both on summit the 7733pt2s are significantly smaller bore. I would give felpro a call and ask them.
