I am looking to buy a new radiator and would like to know what is the best radiator to use? Copper or Aluminum? And how many rows and what size of rows. What are you guys using? Any help is appreciated.

I would reccomend a three row alluminum radiator. Alluminum is lighter then brass.

Not to mention it cools more effectively. I have a 2 row aluminum Griffin radiator and my cars runs about 160* down the road. Also it cost about $180 from Summitt. I would say for that price you can't beat it, but Autozone sells a 3 row aluminum radiator I have heard for $130, but personally I would go w/ the better quality.

Would the same radiator used on a Camaro be used on the Firebird? I would think they do, but I ask this just because of the different front ends of the cars. My radiator filler neck is leaking at the seam where it meets the body of the radiator, so I'm looking to replace it.

Hold your horses everyone. Brass radiators by far weigh more than aluminum, BUT they also cool better than aluminum. Ask any radiator repair shop in your city and they will tell you that aluminum doesn't cool as well as brass/copper rads but the weight advantage is worth the swap alone! Get a 3 core aluminum rad, a good workhouse water pump like "Weiand Action Plus Aluminum" and a fan that can pull about 2,600 CFM. ( look at perma-cool fans, you could even get two 14 inch perma-cool fans that pull 2,950 CFM each!!!!!!!!!!!

Im not worried about weight all I want is better cooling. And jaretz28 I already use perma cool fans one 14" and one 10" two 14's wont fit and the kick *** .

Mark A Shields what model Griffin radiator did you get? And did you have to make any mods to get it to fit?

I just installed a Griffen radiator which I assume is about 1 1/2" aluminum... rather large. About twice as thick as the stock one was! It won't fit under the frame, but it cools the car, so I am not going to complain.

biochem what griffin radiator did you get? Model number? Griffin shows model number 6282AE for 82-92 Camaro. Or did you get one of the universal ones?
