Why did my 2001 T/A A4 go out in 3000 miles?S.H.I.T

Well guys.. the tranny in the 2001 t/a is gone.. it's a A4.. lasted 3014 miles..

Never would make the 2/3 shift at wot.. it would hit the rev limiter..

I lost OD,3, then 2nd... it's at the dealer now.. stuck with a grand prix until then..

Full of fluid, looked good, smelt good... any ideas? Maybe i should try do ditch the car altogether and get a M6

Probably just a fluke from the factory. Last year we had a rash of Torrington bearing failures causing all sorts of funny things. It was the input thrust bearing to be more specific. I guess it was just a bad batch. Who knows.

GMTech what is the standard procedure? Just a rebuild, or do they replace the whole tranny..

If they do a rebuild any chance of me bringing a shift kit up there?

;-)

Depends on the damage. If it costs a few dollars cheaper to overhaul, it will be overhualed (got to save those $$$) If the damage is extensive, it will be replaced. I pulled one out of a Conversion Van w/ like 10,000 miles, that I could not even tear down. The internals got welded together, I could never find out what was wrong. Weird things happen, thats one of the perks of working at a dealer I guess.

no need for a break in on a trans. why did it break? sounds like it had a valve body concern from the start to me. but for a good reason at work we just figure if they build a few million a year, going to get a few bad one's. just sucks that you got one of them bad one's.

You should have them install the Yank 3200 when they put in the new tranny Then you will have a fast car!

Mine Dyno'd 296/320 Stock and ran 13.10@106 and 13.19@107 the week before. They are fun cars if they would hold together.

They need to start building these cars good again, they are having more BS with these 4thgens. Thirdgen's are better quality cars then they are.

my 700R4 lasted 170K behind the L03 and not even 3 months behind the Vortec! Youre getting a new trans anyway so I wouldnt worry about it too much.

PS- my uncles 98 6-speed had to get the trans replaced after 11K miles....so I dont see one trans having the advantage.
