Will Never Be As Good As Ford......

ITS OK, ALready washed my mouth with soap,
BUT no ones been truly helping me.

Why do i fear racing stangs because of fear of losing?
i have 6 weeks. in 6 weeks i hope to beat as many as possible. (cept for cobra dmnnit)

ok, fuel pumps gettin jittery so replacing,
Cept no one gave any info (please) on what to replace with.

Cam. i saw the edelbrock packages in summit,
how do those perform? includes lifters and cam.
hows install go for that?

exaust, Edelbrock catback,

What do You guys recommend? (cant do headers yet, $$$)
about 300 at a time i can do.

i also wanna keep it as a daily drive.

Please, Please help. their numbers are growing. and theres one who snoots at me each time i pass.........

Is yours the throttle body injector? If so, I would actually start with the rearend. 3.73 gears with positive traction. that will make a big difference off the line. Parts and installation should be about $300.

Then start saving for an engine swap. A 383 stroker built right should make nearly 400 hp without a supercharger. Then even a (stock) Cobra couldn't beat you.

The 305 tbi isn't really a high performance engine, and won't be unless you take it out and replace almost all the moving parts.

Hmm no one has said what they really are thinking. If you really want a daily driver that will "thrash mustangs" with no problem then you are going to have to go with a 350.
I like 305's they got plenty of power, get good gas milage and can be built to fly but when stang killing is an issue there is no subsitue "for the money" for a 350 or lager engine. I have broken it down and you, at least need to spend around 1500 on a 305 to make it run as well as a stock 350 and that takes its toll on the fuel economy of the 305 it will get far less milage than a 350 with the same amount of hp. a new stock gm crate engine is 1500/2000$ depending on dealer, so that might be the best way to go for what you want to do.
SSC.
BTW if you decide to keep the 305 i can give you the part numbers to make it pump out some HP, ive done it before

Dunna dunna dunna nana Crack man!
Summit rebuild kit 454.95 "9.25.1" compression pistons. You stock heads can be worked to flow quite well i like the 58cc's for high comprssion jobs they can be ported and bigger vales can be made to fit 400$. Iron eagle heads are like 499.99 complete + 150 for the stud grill. comp magum cam CCA-122112
"270H" 89.99 lifters 66.99. push rods 35.95. weiand stealth manifold 103.95. Holley 600cfm carb 219.99. these are some nice mods for 1300/1400 bucks, wake that 305 rite up. but still a new 350 is only a few hundred more and it can run with stock FI "not to its potential but it will run alot better than the 305.

Your engine is not going to be a stang stomper unless you throw a decent amount of mods on it, including a whole new exhaust w/ headers, a new cam and intake manifold, and some TBI tweaking. That will cost you a decent amount of money and you will still only be making 250 ish hp and that isn't exactly enough to beat anything other than bone-stock Stangs.

Frankly is sounds like you don't have the ability to do an engine swap (or most of the mods above for that matter), but the 350 swap is definitely the best route to go. If you can't swing it yourself I'd start saving some money and try to upgrade to a 350 TPI or 5spd 305 TPI car...

Get a good fuel pump and a nitrous bottle. You'll still have gas mileage and reliability. With the bottle you can woop up on some stangs. It won't cost that much for your car brand new or you could even find it on E-bay for cheap.

Im afraid to race Stangs too, man. I've even got a 350, and I know an in-tune, good running 5.0 will smoke me. No doubt. If your going to build a 350, you might as well drop a Scat 383 crank in it. Northern Auto Parts sells em pretty cheap, and addin 33 cubic inches to the stroke would really make it a torque monster. Good luck man!

Well its kida hard to mod a 305 that will soon be removed. But headders and a high flow cat would be some good mods to start with that will cross over to a 350 maybe later in the summer add some bigger injectors that the 350 will need and maybee upgrade the fuel pump "even though a stock 350 uses the same pump as a 305" Fuel economy will drop a little about 2 miles less per gallon is avrage but some people actually get better fuel economy with a 350 but its rare.
