what is the best starter for a 3rd gen/

I have a real bad problem with my cars starter. I have put like 3 new starters all from high low o'reilly and all different manufacturer's. My car will either just click 2 or 3 times then turn on or it will not do anything but turn on the guages. Is it the starter brand or something else?

Order one of the high torque units from Summitt, they have a few different brands.

CSI makes the best one that I've ever used or known of experiences from other people. They aren't cheap but they do exactly what they claim to do and will work even with a weak little lawn tractor battery. Mine weighs about 6 lbs and the position of the starter motor can be adjusted to clear exhaust.

Most commonly that is a battery or alternator problem after changing to another starter with no luck.

Had the same problem with my starter, but only when the engine was hot. It would just click. Had it checked out along with the soleniod and no problem. Was told by the auto elec, it is a commom problem on chev motors (exhaust to close to starter and heats it up)so he fitted a relay so starter takes current direct from battery and not through the soleniod. cheap fix. Will start now no matter how hot it is and even if the battery is low.
