What to do with bad lifter? Please advise.
I have a fully rebuilt engine. The lifter's are meling replacement's sold by LPE from when I bought the cam(219/219) from them early this year. The problem I am having is that one lifter seems like it is bleeding down when I shut the car off sometimes. Once the oil flows for a few seconds after I start the car, the lifter goes quiet again(but not silent like the rest). My oil pressure is 60psi+ at cruise and 30+/-5 at warm-hot idle. Should I change the lifter or is the rocker mabey a bit too tight?? Can an over tightened rocker cause the lifter to bleed down? If I do change the lifter I will change them all!! What lifters are best, comp?

After a close visual inspection, and after seeing its A-OK.... with that particular valve fully closed, try wiggling the rocker arm, and check to see if it has some play.
If it doesn't, then that valves lash is set too tight.... and it probably collapsed that lifter, and you'll need to replace it.
If the rocker has a little play though, the lifter itself might simply get stuck on it's own (it happens).... either way, just replace it with a new one.

If you're having problems with just one particular lifter, you'll need to first check and see if the 'pressed in' stud in the head is not making it's way out (slowly but surely).
I will check the other things you spoke of though, thanks!!

Like the other guys said check everything else, then if you're sure it's the lifter, you can try disassembling it and rebuilding it, or replace it.
It's a hyd roller correct?
I took it in the shorts last yr. ordering a single replacement lifter from SDPC. The cost for the part was less than $10, and I made the mistake of getting it UPS COD and I was floored by the total by the time it came to me. Just a word of caution.
