odd problem
hello all, hopefully I can get some help with a new "little" problem that popped up. lately if my car has been idling for a little while (say five min or longer, example: waiting in the drive thru at mc dodads) I can drive away but when I stop my car dies. I'm not sure I can describe it better than that.
ohh and I would have searched but I have two reasons I didn't
1) I'm not sure what to search for
2) I'm off to work so I figure there will be a few responses by the time I'm off
thanks in advance for any ideas; by the way it happens regardless of how much gas is in the tank.

it stumbles a little bit but for the most part it just dies. when I start it up again I have to give it some gas and basiclly brake stand to get moving.

Have you checked anything? Fuel pressure, injectors, fuel pattern in throttle body, vacuum leaks? TPS/IAC? Timing?

okay so i'm going to go off the notion of fuel starvation. I dont really know much about the fuel system, just remember... K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Stupid -- and no, i'm not calling you stupid
). Start with the easy things like fuel filter, if you have a carb then there's a fuel filter inside of the carb as well. I'd do some tuning of your carb if it's not computer controlled.
Also, something that you can do is maybe you have too low of an idle and your carb doesnt shoot enough fuel in when braking, and with the loss of vacuum from the brake booster, it just kills off? I would this, it's free, easy and quick. Just disconnect your battery for 30 seconds - 1 minute. This will clear all the data from your ECM, starting you off brand new, this way your computer will have to re-learn (so to speak) your driving habits, and it will adjust the idle accordingly.
