The stock starter for a 5-speed car should work just fine.

I swapped a T-56 in my 69 Chevelle. You have to use the starter that came originally on LT1 6 speed cars. The head of a regular starter is too big to fit into the t-56 bellhousing. Besides, the stock LT1 starter is a small lightweight gear reduction starter.

82' Z-28. 327" w/ flat tops. 216/228/112LS. Pocket ported 041 heads 1.94/1.50 SS valves. World Class T-5 from a 91'. Best run? Runs with 2001 vette to 150mph!

Hey bottled, you should have no prob.....you are in car heaven where you live. I was there a bunch of times and I almost cried when I drove though Jacksonville and saw all the car spots. A lot of hot rides and a lot of really bad drivers means lots of good junk parts! I have never seen so many different plates in one city. You are really lucky!!!

I used the starter from my '92 305 TPI. However, a starter from a '92 350 won't work. The '92 starter is a lot cheaper than the fourth-gen.

I heard that you can use a regular starter with a little "creative" grinding done to the nose to make it fit.
