I have a 400 small block that I swapped into my 85 camaro. It starts up fine and idles good at about 800, but when I shift it into gear, it dies. I have the timing set to 12 degrees initial if that makes a difference. The transmission also shifts from first to second at around 3000-3500 rpms when my foot is to the floor. It runs really strong until it shifts, so I can't figure out what the problem is. I removed the computer as well which I thought meant that the lockup was disabled. Anybody know what my problem(s) might be?
