Be careful! I went through hell with that last year and ended up heli-coiling the manifold. Get some easy outs, and to remove the fuel rail you need to remove the tb and plenum. Then if you're careful you can disassemble the rail and then remove it, or else remove the runners and then remove the rail whole. Check any decent manual for instructions. Be VERY careful, again, b/c if you screw up (no pun intended) with the easy outs you'll have to heli coil it.

A heli coil is basically a replacement thread. If you totally strip out a bolt hole beyond the point of re-tapping the threads you use one of those in there.

removing the plenum shouldnt take more than an hour or so. Its easy if none of the bolts get stuck. Doug

I just had the same thing happen cause the bolt fused with the manifold. Anyways the guy drilled out the old bolt and then heli-coiled it. No problems at all.

Are there any bolts holding the plenum on that are NOT attached to the runners? I need to do my fuel injectors soon.

I broke that bolt off as well, but didn't have to remove the fuel rails to get at it, ended up breaking the bolt extractor as well...ever tried drilling through one of those...not fun, ended up drilling and tapping a new whole half in and halfway out of the old one.

rezinn...no, but there is a sensor underneath that you need to unhook

hey man,
about the only way you'll be able to drill an easy out is with a carbide drill bit. If there is any of the easy out still sticking out you might be able to grab it with a pair of vice grips. If you can get it out then you still have the bolt to deal with. See if you can find a brand of penetrating oil called Kroil. It works really well but you have to give it some time to work. Let it soak for an hour or so then try anouther easy out. If that doesn't work you might have to remove the manifold and take to a shop to have it drilled out. good luck man
