lt1 350 cylinder only worn @ .001 ???
i measured my cylinders tonight and they almost all measured out @ .001 is that possible for a motor with 50k on it ,or so i was told. they measured 4.001 almost all measurements came out exactly that. is that right.the cylinders look realy good but i would think more wear than that would show.

If it was taken care of, then thats not unheard of. There are much older (and more used) engines out there that people pull the heads off of and you can still see the cross hatch on the bores.
Sounds like it was taken care of.

yea i can see the x hatch plain as day. but that realy doesnt mean anything i dont think. it was just a surprise to me to see little to no wear. im just goin to hone it up and re ring it.that should do the trick. no sense boring when i dont have to. i was told lt1 engines have a harder sleeve and a stock chromoly ring that helps eliminate engine wear. makes sense i guess.

Why are you going to rering it, if it doesn't have any wear? Did it have compression or leakdown problems?

nope no problems it was just dirty inside from sitting without the heads and intake. my original idea was just too run it how it was. but since i took the pistons and crank out to clean it up i have to re-ring it and get new bearings now.

Well, I guess the next question is what size are the pistons and what is the piston to cyl. wall clearance. When you get your new rings make sure you put them in the empty bore and check for end clearance. You should take an old ring off of the piston and do the same thing to see if the old rings have a large end gap which means the rings wore and not the block. When you get the old ring in the bore square it up by using a piston upside down. Oh, and why did you take this eng. apart!!!

it was just dirty inside from sitting without the heads and intake. there was trash all over in it in every crevise. it was sitting not covered and got dirty. so rather than to spin a main because of trash in the engine i pulled it apart.
