Oil Cooler - Do I need it?
No you wont have problems. The only down falls I se eare your engine life will probably decrese but nothing you will ever notice. The other problem is your oil temp will rise a bit higher and it could decrease oil life. I would rather have one than not though.

Yep, not necessary to have one at all. And as long as you run synthetic oil, the warmer oil will make more hp and engine life would probably be increased.

I'm pretty sure that the following is accurate:
At some point in time, the standard Vette LT1 engine ceased to have an oil cooler because Chevy begain requiring synthetic oil. There was a time of overlap where there was an oil cooler and the synthetic requirement. Then, Chevy was comfortable with eliminating the cooler with what they learned and now require synthetic oil is used.
I'm reasonably sure that this is true. Even so, I'm personally more comfortable leaving the oil cooler equipment intact on my L98. It was designed believing that it was to be used...
