Can't get the lid off

Why is it that when I need to put oil in my car, I need He-man to turn the cap? I mean I always tighten to one click, but still it's like someone welded the stupid thing on there. What's goin' on with that? 'Cause I really need to put some oil in there. Thanks.

Oil caps don't click. They just turn half way or so and "lock." If it's getting stuck, the cap is probably wrong (especially if it clicks like a gas cap), or there's crud on the cap or valve cover where it locks into place. I would think about getting the oil system cleaned and flushed if that's the case.

Expansion and contraction from heating and cooling make it tighten up...all I can suggest is: go to the gym and work on your forearms
1 click after it bottoms out is correct ,BTW, just like your gas cap.

Huh? Oil caps should just twist 1/2 way and stop... Don't want to sound like an ***, but you are talking about one in the valve cover right?

The later model cars do have a cap that clicks after it bottoms out.... like a gas cap.

Oh... had no idea

I'd suggest getting the cap off, and soaking it over night in some kinda cleaner or degreaser. See if that helps.

I was about to chime in but it was already said. My car has the clicker to. Seems like it is usually pretty hard to get off.

I dont know about your guys' oil cap shape, but mine has about 5 "grooves" where I can put a flathead screwdriver and just give it a good whack once with a rubber mallet.

The next time "He-Man" gets the cap off for you, clean both the cap and the adapter on the rocker cover that the cap screws into. DO NOT use any sort of degreaser, just a dry paper towel and soap if necessary. Once the cap is clean, apply a thin coating of clean engine oil, or better still, silicone grease to the 'O' ring on the underside of the cap. The 'O' ring is what is binding.

Don't so the "Wonder Woman" thing when installing the cap. One click is more than sufficient, and possibly too much. Just turn it until it is snug and leave it alone.
