Pushrod Length Question...
I just bought myself a set of dart iron eagle 180 heads for my iroc, and i wanted to know if anyone knows if i'd have to get new pushrods or if i can use the stock sized comp cam pushrods i have now (7.195)? someone told me they used their stock pushrods when they put on their dart ie 180's, but im not so sure if i'd wanna do that without hearing what other ppl have to say. does anyone know for a fact that i'd need different size pushrods? because i'd rather not go out and buy a pushrod length checker for 40$ unless someone can tell me they've tried those heads and had to get different sized pushrods. i know it would be best just to check it with the pushrod length checker... but i just wanted to see what you guys had to say since i probably wont be able to get one till next week or so. so yea, thanks for the help guys, i appriciate it
I've used Dart heads several times and always used stock length sticks without problems. There is nothing inherent in the Dart head's design that requires special length pushrods. Obviously, you need hardened pushrods to work with the IE's guideplates, but it sounds like you've already got aftermarket sticks (which are hardened).

But, if heads are the only swap your making it should not be a problem. Usually you dont run into trooubles unless you start using different lifters, rocker arms/ratio's. Again, for no more than it takes to check, it's time well spend to be 100% sure. Hate to wipe out a cam or break valvetrain parts just "guesstimating"

hmm... i have a compcam 503 cam and s/a 1.6 rr's. ive checked out the valve stem tips and they look fine... i'll take a look at it tomorrow and tell you if anything's changed since i last looked... but last time when i took the heads off, the valve stem tips had a mark from the rockers in the middle. i guess ill see if anyone i know has one that i can borrow just to double check... but how exactly do you use a pushrod length checker? it's kind of hard to tell if the rocker is seated in the middle of the valve stem tip by looking at it... anyone know how to use the tool properly?
