400 short block suggestions

Ok, im going to start piecing together the bottom end on my 400 and i want to know if im allowing myself enough cash for the major purchases. Now I know that I'll need bolts and bearings and such. but im talking about the major pieces.

I want to go all forged if i can, i know its overkill but im still young and might get a 'lil' rough with her everynow and again.

so heres the price ranges, im open to suggestions on products within the price range. Keep in mind im willing to spend less I just want her to be solid.

'509'Block - $ 200 MAX on block itself
Crank - $ 5-600 Good Forged Crank
Rods - $ 3-400 H-beam, forged if in range
Pistons - $ 550-650 Forged

Eagle 4340 crank $660.00
Eagle 4340 H-beams $499.99
SRP piston will be around $500.00

You can probably find a little better prices if you shop around.

how high are you going to spin it? you doing to spray it, blow it? I spin mine to 6200, it has a stock crank, 5.7 reconditioned rods with ARP bolts and KB silvo lite pistons. I beat on my car probably harder than anyone. Stock parts setup correctly will work and will last. Now if you start to spray it or blow it, you can still use the stock crank, but should upgrade to a better set of rods and probably forged pistons, thats why I did on the 355 I just built for a 93Z. Make sure you have it balanced and have the rod side clearence checked, you can run the side clearence a little loose, what this does is the bleeds oil off past the big end of the rod and helps cool it down, the down side of it is maybe a small drop in oil pressure. Hope this helps.

locally, i can get an eagle 4340 400 crank for $489, eagle 4340 h beams for $349, and some probe or SRP slugs for about $400 or so (that's what's in my 406). A lot cheaper than Jeg's for the Eagle pieces. And the eagle crank is already internally balanced, nice piece.

well if i buil dit at school the instructor says hes going to spin it to at least 6K. I doubt it ever really sees it on the street.

Im might eventually add spray if them pesky vtec kids start revvin at 9+ trying to keep up LOL...

seriously i doubt it ever sees 7 or up but i want it built to hold together if i do decide to ever add nitrous.

Id like it to see 12's and still be a reliable daily car.

yeah that was kind of a joke...but there are some seriously quick burners around....then a few dsms that are pretty quick..and more than one turbo'd integra....and a cavalier in the process of being built for 12's....

so...suggestions? comments(not one R!Ce but the parts)? Donations?

So far my budget seems reasonable, let me know. Lets keep this thing alive for a while i want all the opinions i can get.

You can get no-name h beams off of ebay for $270-they are the same rod as the eagle-just no brand name. I picked up TRW forged pistons for around $300 with -16cc dish for my 406

6 grand isn't that big of a deal, unless you're boosting it somehow, or have a bunch of compression the stock stuff would work fine.

I know of the four bolt and two bolt variants of the 400 but how many different castings of the two bolt were there and why is the 509 the one you are after?
