EGR temp switch

Did chevy decide to kill the egr temp switch on speed density TPI's? Finishing up my motor swap, and there's absolutely nothing there for the wire to hook up to. I was comparing it to my maf 305, and it looks like they didn't even make a port on the SD manifold for a new sensor to screw into.

You are correct sir, the speed density engines do not have the EGR diagnostic temp switch in the EGR valve.

So if I'm using a MAF ECM, I'm going to have to get a new valve, right?

Are you running a MAF or MAP system? If you are running a MAP system then I believe that you should also have the MAP ECM to go with it.

I'm running a maf system with a maf ECM, the intake is from a SD system though.

The diagnostic temp switch goes in the side of the EGR valve, that is why you can't find it on the intake manifold.

Yes, the valve goes on the intake and the switch goes on the valve....If your intake doesn't have the place for the valve to mount you may have an intake off of a corvette with alum heads.

I think he has the valve Morley and has it mounted, he just doesn't have a place to put the switch because he probably has a speed density EGR valve installed.

yes yes yes exactly. So I just have to get a MAF valve and all my problems go away? What exactly would it do without that connected?

It would set a code for EGR, it would send the signal to the solenoid requesting EGR but it wouldn't see the feedback telling it that the request was recieved and is functioning properly.

When the ECM doesn't see EGR when requested the ignition timing is taken from a different table (or just pulled back some, not for sure on that one) and your performance will suffer a little.
