Got the headers on....now how do I put the dip stick tube back on????

I just put a set of the Hooker shorty headers on my L98 motor. Now because the header on the right (passenger) side is so much thinner than a stock manifold is (as many of you already know), I can't get the dipstick tube to mount back up. If I push the tube over, the bracket gets too high and it won't work. Any tricks to doing this? ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I cut the bracket off of the dipstick tube on mine. I had a friend feed it in from the top and I guided it into the hole. We had to pull it back out a few times here and there and make some bends to get the angle right. Once it got in about a 1/2 inch, a few LIGHT taps with the shop hammer got it in the rest of the way.

How does the tube stay attached to the engine without a bracket then? Thanks.

Anyone else have/had a similar problem with the dip stick tube and headers? Thanks.

Use a regular bolt and a sleeve between the dipstick tube and the headers.

I got the Edelbrocks, and they came with two clamps: a big one for the header and a little one for the dipstick. You put the big clamp around the header and feed the bolt through the header clamp and the dipstick tube clamp and tighten them together. It was a pain to get to work but so far it seems to be working good.

I just bent the dipstick bracket out of the way and shoved it back into the block when I did my headers, if it pops out, hopefully I'll see the smoke before the damage is done, lol..

We fed it down inbetween the header and the block. The tube stays in just fine. I haven't had a prolem with it except that it gets fairly hot.
