car suddenly dies while driving
My car has been suddenly dying on me when I am driving. Sometimes it restarts as I am rolling down the street, other times I have to pull over and stop before restarting. What could be causing this? A bad MAF? I have an '86 Z28 with mass air TPI.
Thanks

Need to go thruogh the basics first...fuel filter, cap/rotor, etc...
Does the car just stall, or begin to cutout then die? If it's cutting out, does the SE light come on during the miss, or not?
Have you checked the ECM for codes throught the ALDL connector?

Well, to eliminate the MAF, unplug the electrical connection on the underside of it.
Do you have access to a fuel pressure gauge?
Once the MAF and fuel pressure have been eliminated, you need to look into the ignition as a possible problem as well.
Also, you could be getting EGR at idle as well...an open EGR valve, or partially open one, will cause stumbling and stalling as well.
