Head modifacation....

ok guys this is prolly the stupidest question i could possibly ask, but itg might not be, i have no clue, but here goes...

Can you mill stock heads, say L31 vortec heads, to have higher then their 170cc intake runners?

I'm not looking for the best heads in the world, but i saw or vortec heads for sale cheap locally, just got a valve job done and he was selling them for $200.

Vortec heads i have heard flow decently and for $200 they will be a nice beginner platformn, wont get me anywhere close to my 350RW, but it'll be a nice start, correct?

I guess i should go read some books huh? Well i got time now, and if you guys feel nice enough talk to me....
