Ignition module questions...

Alright, I know my car is getting spark but I don't know how good.

The car floods really bad, even when first strating it up. The car doesn't like revving out, and refuses to idle.

I'm wondering if my ignition module is shorting out? Here are a couple of pics I just took. There was this plate on it. The original plate was covering the GM ignition module. That went out and I changed it with a Wells module (PN #DR124, I think)

Anyways, this is only happening since the engine rebuild. I think that I might not need this plate, what do you think?

Thanks!
Colin

I don't have that plate on mine, but there may be differences in years and modules?

It looks like the plate is used as a standoff of sorts, to keep the module out of direct contact with the dis. base, on my car the module has a thicj heat sink, and dielectric grease is used as a heat sheild when bloting the module down.

I'd re-use it.
