Needle Adapter for Greasing U-joints

Hi,

I have a greasable u-joint in my car. But I can't get to the zirc fitting with a regular grease gun fitting. Supposedly a needle adapter is the way to go. I don't want to stab it into the 4 rubber seals, though. I've heard you can insert the needle into the zirc fitting and lube the joint that way, but it doesn't make sense to me. How could there be any pressure into the joint, since the needle would leave space for the grease to ooze out of the zirc ?

Thanks

You shoot the grease into the Zerk. You hold the needle tight up against the Zerk, so that it more or less seals up against it. It's not a "needle" like you'd stab it through the rubber dust seal or anything.

It's supposed to be possible to get to those with a straight grease gun end, if it's rotated the right way. If you can't, then somebody put it in wrong; they weren't paying attention.

You gotta press the needle into the zerk untill you feel it 'click'

Then shoot away. You should be good when you hear little popping sounds coming from the U-joint.

Maybe two different things here. There are grease needles that are really needles. Also there are U-joint needles that fit up against the grease zerk and will get into the joint.

Thanks. Yes, it's the blunt u-joint needle I need, apparently. The parts stores guys were telling me to use the sharp needle to get into the Zerk.
