305 Heads

Are there any good heads for my 91 RS 305. I think my valves must be messed up because they sound odd. Will this be very helpful for my engine.

Define "sounds odd" first.

I'm with the walking Steak.

The heads you have are a good base if you wasnt to do it on the cheap as well as learn during the process. Look for a thread by Sitting Bull, it's a very good starting point.

Or you could do what many others do and get S/R torquers 305's.

Actually, the LO3 heads are the worst 305 heads Chevy made. They would be good to learn porting on, but I wouldn't put them on the engine. LG4 and L69 heads are far superior.

Yes those heads are pure crap, junk them as fast as possible. Look for some 081 305 TPI heads. I wouldn't go with World heads, i'm not a big fan of them in anyway, they need a major port job to be any good at all.

Yeah the TBI heads suck. Get a set of 081s from the 305 TPI cars or the 87-up carbed cars. Then port them and install them. From what I've heard, you won't even feel like you have the same car.

Throw a new cam in as well. That'll make double the difference

Yes im thinking about getting a new cam also. But the sound i was talking about is like a rattling noise with a little bit of clunking. (haha sorry but thats what i hear)

Now my car is TBI, would it matter if I got the TPI Heads.

Also , who would do porting, because i do not know crap about that.

They should work. Don't know what year will work with your TBI intake ('87 or newer?)

Check the Yellow Pages for a machine shop that can do the porting.

Its your TPI, they top out at 4000rpm, the induction system is all wrong for anything higher.
