Crazy engine vibration.

I have unbolted the torqe convertor and moved it back from the fly wheel and it still vibrates. I visually looked at the harmonic balancer and it does not seem to be out of wack. I don't know if it is worth my time and effort to change the flw wheel at least it give me an excuse to by a higher stall torque converter. It is a small block and I have the understanding that this block should be an internalley balanced engine.

The problem has always been there but I thought it was a bent rim. Ever since I have put new rims and a PU trans mount I have noticed it more because it is stiffer.

Anybody have any adice that would either give me the kick in the rear to start digging in or direct me toward something else that could potentially be the true root cause?

Is it only vibrating when you're moving? If it vibrates at idle it could be a vacuum leak, my engine used to vibrate like crazy at idle. I replaced the gasket between the carb and intake and now it's nice and smooth.

I have almost the same problem with my 89 Iroc, but the vibration comes at 4300 rpm.
Anyway I retarded the ignition a bit and the vibration got a lot softer. You could try to
retard your ignition a little and se if it gets better.
Good luck
Ben
