You mean vapor lock? If so, the LG4 (carb cars) were good at that. So good in fact, GM decided to put in an in-tank "helper" pump to assist the block-mounted one.
ok that coulda been it but i thought it was an actual fuel boiling issue..and i thought it was in an injected engine...and if i remember right i think it was only a late 80's engine and i read it in the firebird redbook...if i remember right to my early days of driving ....

LG4 & L69's without intank pumps were known to have vapor lock issues. Having an in tank pump fixes that problem since the fuel is under pressure all the way up to the carb or injection unit.

Well, when vapor lock occurs, the fuel inside the fuel lines more or less boils, prematurely evaporating before it's technically supposed to.
it was a L69 with the problem..i see..well thanks guys that took that off the table..with an in tank pump all problems were solved..altho that does make sense..
well ill just ignore that car..didnt matter much anyways cause id prolly yank that engine this winter..

It was the early carb'd engines w/o in tank pumps that had that problem.
My 350 (swapped) also had that problem occasionally, since it used the L69 fuel lines on it and doesn't have an in-tank pump. As soon as I rerouted the fuel line from the block-mounted pump to the carb, I never had the problem again.
Kretos - Why bash the L69? It was one of the best 3rdgen engines GM had. IMO, it was 2nd only to the L98, because the 305 TPI (this is just my opinion here) was a truck motor. Sure, it made alot of torque, and decent hp, but it was a low rpm engine. The L69 was designed to make its power at higher revs than the TPI 305s were, and that made it much more fun to play with than TPI. I had an L69 in the Z28 I have now, and it was much more fun that the stump-puller TPI engines were, and I've driven a few.
