How much HP does a 305 have?

I've heard various rumors. I'm wondering I have a 87 305 carb'd. It has a Hypertech stage 2 chip on it and a k&N filter on it so far. how much HP do you guys think I have so far?

If your engine is the 305 H.O. then it has 190 horse stock. I'd say with your mods now you probably have around 200.

Check out https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/techdb.shtml , the tech database on this board.

Looks like you started out with 165 HP. You've probably added about 5 more, minus losses from wear. It does not look like the L69 190 HP was available that year.

Wow, only 5 hp from both those mods so far? Damn. Well im about to mod the carb a little and put on a new flowmaster 40 series exhaust system. Hopefully with all this i can bring it up a little more than 170hp.

with some mods, ther more you add the more you get out of the mod. example: if you added headers the hp gain will be greater for the muffler. kinda like that.

If you want big HP increases you need a whole combination of parts. Example: Mod the carb, aluminum intake, better cam, headers and/or exhaust improvements.
