They are rare like 50 of them. Does the car have T-Tops, they didn't put 350's in T-Top cars. Also all 5.7 L IROC's that I have seen had the 5.7 badging undering the Z28 or IROC badge on the side ground effects. You can check the VIN # too, I believe it is the 8th digit. I think G and H were 305's. Also there should be a RPO sheet on the under side of the console lid. One of those should give the engine code as well.

if it doesn't have L98 on the rpo sheet it isn't a 350. the vin will have an 8 for the engine code insted of a letter. my L98 iroc has t tops, that has come up before and it seems to cause a lot of argueing about 350's and t tops.

Cool,
You can be almost certain that it is not stock if it has a 350. It could be a retrofit engine, however. Take some paper towels, a flashlight, and note pad. Get the casting number from the rear ledge of the case just to the left of the distributor. Check the casting number and you'll be able to determine what the engine displacement truly is.
It's possible that the seller doesn't even really know what it is, especially if they got the car used. It can be difficult to distinguish teh two engines, since there are no other definite outward differences between the two blocks. Some people have said that the 350s have a large "57" cast in the lower left side of the case, but so does my 305.
And I could be mistaken again, but I believe all the test "mules" that the factory used to install the L98 in 1986 were plain Camaros and plain Firebirds, not IROCs and TAs.
