update post (white smoke after holley swap)

Hey Bretheren,
well do you all remember about a month ago about swapping the tb and i had water in the oil and white smoke......well after tearing it down as everyone said blown head gasket...no surprise
#7 cylinder was full of water so when i pulled the plug i got a little waterfall.......so i pulled the heads and cam to go back with the new stuff....on the timing chain cover i just bent it a little and snaked it back over the front seal ......Will This Be OK.. i dont see why it would leak and i didnt want to drop the pan..let me know
guys need your expertise also,my cylinder walls look good no lip at all.......no sludge at all in old heads or the spider thing under the intake it surprised me a car with over 100,000 miles looks that good i had a little wear on my cam bearings...ok enough rambling ill try to post pics later thanks

How long did you run the engine with the white smoke? Because the compromised oil is not so good for the bearings. If you had that much water in it, might not hurt to change the oil again after running a little while to purge any bad oil out of the galleys and bearings.

Regarding the timing cover, if you bent it to get it out of the way and pull the pan, you might have a massive oil leak in the front cover area. I'd use a lot of silicon around that area to be sure.

as soon as it started acting up i didnt drive it anymore so total time with blown head gasket that i know of is about 5 or 10 minutes idleing.....also on the changing of the oil.....the problem ive heard most is that thenasty oil (milky) stays in oil pump and on bearings so i got a case to run through before the oil i will actually keep for 3000 miles.....on the front seal issue i think it will be ok the seal still looks good but i will rtv the hell out of it.
