replace the plugs and wires along with any other tune up related parts and filters you think might be bad then come back and post

guess it depends lot on what you consider a waste of money. knowing you needs plugs and wires and having not replaced them i'd suspect anything you spend on car maintance and up keep could be considered a waste of money to you.

You're joking right? Even the store brand stuff is better than non-functioning compnents.

State of tune is always were to start. I have recently seen a spate of threads with problems, yet when brought up, the owner/poster had done nothing in the way of ensuring a base tune.

Another thing that I see a lot of is this 'top stuff only'. By whose definition? It seems that a whole slew of people think the Bosch +4 Plat plugs are the shiznit, too bad they are one of the worst plugs for our applications!

Tune the car up. This includes the O2 sensor and checking/adjusting the timing properly. Once you have a solid base, you can then begin to properly troubleshoot any problems.

Just get some normal AC delco's. The ones that cost a buck a plug.

As long as they are spiral core, that's all that really matters. MSD or not, I doubt you will notice a difference. Again, just make sure they are spiral cores. I don't think MSD ignitions play well with solid core (at least mine doesn't).

Last question I promise, lol. I got all the supplies but the only thing that worries me is the o2 sensor. Where do I put it and how do I put it in? Never done this one before so any help would help me a lot. thanks.

BTDC. Do a search on "base AND timing". Probably limit it to TPI or Gen/tech and you'll get an assload of hits to read through. You'll also see what people are running as well.

WOW. I just changed the plugs to ac delco's and got some spiral core spark wires and dumped two bottles of fuel injector cleaner and 91 premium gas. The car is running almost perfect now. It runs so beautiful. It doesnt lack power when i turn right anymore, The lag in power is very small and only happens when i FLOOR it, It doesnt turn off as much after a long drive anymore, it feels way smoother and stronger. I am very happy. This tiny lag that i have now is only when i floor it, but if I just gradually push down the pedal it will be good. What could be causing this lag? Maybe vacuum leaks? I have no clue, also what can cause it to turn off like this as it is very hazerdous to my safety. Thanks for all your help and I hope you guys can do it again, your all great.

The lag is normal, it typically takes about a full second for the tranny to downshift (if you have a automatic that is). I'm guessing that you have TPI since you said that you put fuel injector cleaner in it... I'm not completely sure on TPI so I wont tread there and waste someone elses time correcting me

It sounds like a greater majority of your problems went away with the tune-up... now just that shut-down problem. Perhaps you should check your ignition cylinder, and alternator? That's about all that I can think of at the top of my head at 1AM
