ok i bought the '84 z-28, has a 305 HO, changed the plugs and wires, and it won't run (i didn't pay attention to where the wires were), SO i got the timing set properly now, but in my anger, i tore out all the emissions crap, and i capped off the vaccum lines on the computer controlled quadrajet, it wants to start, and occasionally sorta sputters and runs for a second but then seems to flood out, is there anything i can adjust to limit the fuel flow, this computer controlled quadrajet sucks, but i can't afford an edelbrock/holley/carter/etc... what to do?

did you block ALL of the vacuum lines on the carb?
and if it wont run how did you set timing all the way?

i tore out all the emissions crap
Why do people do that?
Figure out what "crap" you tore out; and realize that a bunch of it needs to go back. And, that it will probably run better with it, than without it; removing it certainly won't help it, by itself.
Then maybe we can help you get it to run again.
Is it really the HO? (8th digit of the VIN "G")

I would get a manual, make sure that all the plug wires are configured correctly and try to start it. See what happens. Second. Just because he disconnected all the smog stuff doesnt mean it wont run and that he should take the time out to put it all back on. I dont run ANY smog stuff and really like it alot better. He needs to make sure there are no open vaccume lines and that they are plug at the carb. If it still wont start then a timing light should be used to check the timing. Unless he removed the dizzy and turned the engine over a few times it should still fire even if its still not 100% right.

Yes it is really the 305HO 8th vin G. actually every car i've ever owned ran better without all the smog crap so i don't know what you're talking about, it tries to start then sputters as though it's flooded, i think it's that POS computer controlled quadrajet so i'm just going to barrow my friends edelbrock and see if it makes a difference...
Hey some interesting news, i don't think the car has a chevy motor in it, as i cannot find any block codes and the front of the block looks different that a 305/350, i think it might have an olds 350 rocket motor, anyone know the firing order on that motor?

What makes you think that you have a rocket block? they are significantly different then anything that should be in there, and I don't believe that there ever was a pan made for them that would clear a stock K-member. Of course, if it's really a rocket block then it wouldn't be that unlikely that someone fabbed something, but it would be highly unlikely that it would just end up in some random car (the engine would be worth many times what the car is and it wouldn’t be sold without someone trying to do something about that).
