If I have my trick flow heads milled just enought to make sure they are straight and to clean them up do I have to do anything to the manifold?

got this out of a book, can't remember which one though.

"For every .010" you remove from the head or block

you take .0123" off the intake port face on either the head or intake.

And .0173" off the bottom of the intake.

The .015" gasket is the origional assembly gasket from GM.

the .040" is a thicker replacement.

Milling the manifold face or bottom will only raise or lower
the manififold ports relative to the head ports.
It will not correct a alignment problem of the sides of the ports."

Some poeple take 30 thou off and don't have to mill, just a little bolt hole and port alignment mismatch.

If you're just doing to take a clean-up cut off the decks, don't bother cutting the manifold face or manifold. .005 to .010 is ok, which should be enough to clean up the head's deck face.

A stock SBC = 9.025 deck, .020" gasket which puts the head at 9.045"

Most replacement performance gaskets are .039-.041.

So if you take 20 thou off the head, or 10 from head and 10 from deck, and put a 1003 or 1010 gasket, your at the same height as stock.

You'll still have to install your manifold.
Engine won't run without it. Ask me how I know.
