Educate me!
Hey guys, I would like to start off saying that I have been monitoring this board for years and have learned tons… Much Thanks! Now I am planning my first engine build up and a few questions. This engine will be drove often and be abused probably just as often lol. The transmission, suspension, and rear-end will get attention also but that’s not my major concern at this point. I do plan on running a 150 shot of NOS to achieve my HP goal. I plan on using a ported TPI Plentum(and some runners from TPS) mostly because 2k for an intake is a bit unrealistic for my first buildup. I had an older 350 block gave to me (in good condition) from a friend and this my dilemma. I plan on building this block up to a 383 and putting the TPI plenum off my L98 5.7. Here are a few questions I have.
1st – I know the older block has 2 piece seal on the crank but what are the other major differences that I may run into putting it into my thirdgen?
2nd – Will it cost a lot extra switching to roller setup for the cam on the older block?
3rd – I know there is a difference in a 400 crank and a 400 for a 383stroker can someone explain this for me?
Goal:
450+HP (on the bottle of course)
400+TQ
I know I will have more questions but this get me started.
Thanks in advance guys…

1) oil pan is different and dipstick is on other side (no biggie, though), different starter, probably flexplate too, that's all I can think of now.

Just curious...what intake were you looking at that is 2K? You can do the HSR swap and it will only run you about $700 for all necessary parts.

there is a price list on there for everything needed to do the swap. hit me up on yahoo if you have any questions....john_bender83@yahoo.com
