Are Summitts rebuild kits with forged pistons any good?

Or would I be better off buying a seperate set of pistons?

The TRW forged pistons weigh a little more, but aside from that they are just fine. I am going with these pistons in my rebuild, so I hope they are good . I am also going with the stage 2 connecting rods also and I have heard nothing, but good about these.

When my rebuild kit came in, my pistons were Federal Mogul and said pretty much nothing about TRW, but I believe that Federal Mogul owns TRW. I've put about 3200 miles on the motor and so far so good. Well, at least in terms of the pistons.

I got Summits kit w/o the pistons. Everything is Federal Mogul. Bearings, oil pump, rings (Moly faced top)... Everything...

Not a bad kit IMO.

Jim is right, Federal Mogul owns TRW. I liked my kit. It came with true double roller timing chains and I got stage 2 conrods wich held up good in my motor.
