how to install the timing sprocket on the crankshaft ?

I used a large socket (1 1/4" I think) that fit around the crank and up against the sprocket. Then I used the bolt the goes into the crank to tighten it down. It pushed the sprocket on easily.

easiest way to do it is to heat the gear.
I do not recomend using flame though.
I always put about 1 1/2" of water in an old pot, put the gear in the water, and boil for about 5 minutes. Season to taste. remove from water and install immiediately. It will go right on. No pounding and no pressing, no muss, no fuss.
Just don't use one of the old lady's good pots

If you have a balancer puller & installer, you can use the installer tool to press it on along with the balancer, then pull the balancer back off.
