check engine light

ocasionaly when im driving my service engine soon light comes on. I have no idea why. It only happens every once in a while and if i turn the car off, and start it again, its gone. if u take a screwdriver or somthing metal and put it on either of the fuel rails, and put your ear up to it, you can hear a ticking, kinda fast paced, i dont know if this is normal or if somthing is going wrong, i dont know if that could be it or the fact that my cats are rustin out...any info/help would be apreciated
thanks

Do a search on how to find what code is popping up with your check engine light also whens the last time your oxygen sensor was replaced. Find your code first . The code will give you the area that the problem is in

yes, the codes are stored for a long time, unless the battery is disconnected.
