cruise control ??
HI, whenever I use my cruise control it never stays at the same speed. It slows down a couple miles and then it speeds up a couple miles. It's very annoying. Is there any way to fix it so it stays at the same speed??
87,
Make certain the throttle linkage, speedo cables, and cruise throttle cable are clean and lubricated. If you open the top of the cruise unit, make sure the "shoelace" is not twisted and is tightly wound on the thimble.

OOPS! You have the vacuum servo on your '87, not the digital unit. My bad!
Forget about the shoelace. You should still check the cables, vacuum hoses, and can adjust the cable by selecting one of the holes in the cable bracket at the cruise unit that allows the least amount of slack (you must have a little slack in the cable).
You probably have some mechanical binding or sticking, not an electronic problem.
