ZZ4 cam and 300 hp heads on a 305?

I've got the 305 out of my 89 formula and I'm going to put it in my S-10 its got 184,000 miles on it and I've got a set of 300 horse heads casting# 14096217 that are brand new and I've got a zz4 cam has anyone did anything like this with there 305 and has anyone skatered any of there 305's I beat mine prety good in my firebird and it took it well good oil presure and good cylinder presure I'm also woundering about the compression I'm going to give up going to 64 cc heads anyone think I should have them milled a bit or I'm I already going to be pushing me valve to piston clearance with .474/.501 lift any help please

i'm unfamiliar with the heads, but assuming they can handle the lift, you're looking around your goal.

Check my sig. Thats with TBI, so a carb with that setup should do well. I'd say my setup is just under 300 at the crank so with a ZZ4 cam you should be there.

The 305 is low on HP but it is a tank when it comes to stress. It can take a whole lot before it gives up. power that puppy up and have fun.

I'm not sure what pistons your engine has, flat or dished, so it's impossible to do a calculation on the CR.
But I'd suggest finding out for sure what the CR is with those heads and what your V/P clearance is as well, before you bolt them on.
Milling the heads could be the answer.
Another possibility might be to sell or trade the heads to someone who has some 305 heads with the smaller chamber.
64cc is a good chamber vol for a HP 350 and your heads could be the solution to someone elses problem.

My motor has flat top 4 valve relief pistons I'm going to run these head because they have awsome ports and good springs on them I'll just take the cut in comp and live with it if its weak I'll put a 125 shot on it I've got and flog it

I think with those 300 horse heads you are better off with a 3/4 race cam

If you don't mill the heads with the cam you have you will be lucky if it has a170 horse shave the heads so there around 55cc install the cam and a 2800 stall all will be good.

I went to buy head gaskets today and the computer at autozone said I needed new head bolts what kind of crap is this there not torque to yield this motor isn't a ls1 or noyhin anybody else been told this..I'm just going to use the old bolts like I have with every othersmall block I've ever had the heads off of...and the heads I'm puting on it are from pace parts and are the 285/300 horse crate motor heads and have 180cc intake runners and are very simular to the phase II head but have exhaust crossovers.

They say that once head bolts have been torqued once they stretch enough that they could cause head gasket leaks. But you could probably get buy with the old ones.

Post the casting numbers.

All the rest of this "300 HP" this and "simular [sic] to Phase II" that and "180cc" something else, is just useless drivel. Casting numbers tell all. Nothing else is worth the bandwidth it takes to post it.

How much you want to bet that they're Hecho En Mexico 993s? In which case, they're 76cc chambers, so your CR will end up at about 7:1 by putting them on a 305.
