dip stick stuck

I'm pushing really hard on my dipstick and it wont go back in. Also the dipstick holder moves back and forth a good 4 inches. Any solutions?

Have you tried spinning the dipstick? I know some times I can't get my trans dipstick in, then I flip it around, and it slides in. Sounds like you lost a bolt that holds the dipstick tube to the engine... but if the tube fell out, you'd probably have one big oil leak...

Yeah I tried putting it in a bunch of ways. The previous owner told me it was really hard to put back in.
