It is a brace that bolts to the lower sides of the front subframes to increase the stiffness of the front end. Eliminating the flex in the front end can be done a little more effectively with a strut tower brace bolted across the tops of the upper strut mounts. The down side of the STB is the space it takes and the inaccessibility of some components while it's in place. They are easy to remove for routine service, however.

Supposed to help brace the steering box brace as well, but it doesn't work that as good as it should. A lot of cars with the wonder bar still develop cracks in that area.

ok after seeing that picture I guess that isn't what I saw on the RS. The RS had these 2 bars that went from one side of the engine to the other. What was that ?

If you saw it on top of the engine, it is the strut tower brace I referred to earlier (STB). It is a little more effective in rigidizing the front end, but the theory is similar.

Where can you get a Wonder Bar? Is there a place online to order one? And how much do they cost?

PN# GM-14079634; Mine was $39 from a Chevy dealer. Global West also sells a beefier version for not much more.
