steering columns ( what years can i swap with mine?)
the steering column in my 86 z28 auto is now officially dead. and of course the junk yards dont have any from an 86'. what years steering columns will be a no-hassle swap.

As far as I know, those from an 84-newer will swap directly as long as both have the same wiper/cruise options; the 82-83 will bolt in, but will require some switching of wires to the wiper switch.

You might even be able to swap up to an '89. The tilt steering in my '89 IROC was really loose, so I threw the column out of my '86 in there until I could get the '89 column apart to tighten. It was quick and easy. Only thing was that I couldn't use the VATS ignition since it seems the igntion cylinder hole (whatever) doesn't have a place for the VATS wire to run. But other than that, the column matched up perfectly - wires and all. Good luck. - John '89 L98
