valve lash on hydroylic lifters

Is this method of setting the lash/preload good?:
I was gonna do the EO/IC method, but can't you just watch the intake valve open, then the exhast valve, then as you see the exhaust valve close, you turn the crank a little more and you should be on base circle for both valves. So you can now 0 lash the rockers on both calves for that cylinder, right? then you turn about 1/4-1/2 turn. thanks -Justin

However you determine that you're on the base circle is up to you. You can follow the "opposite firing order" method, or watch the valves and spin the crank a bit furhter to assure that you're down there.

As for preload, I personally don't like to go more than ½ turn after zero lash specifically to avoid potential problems from lifter pump-up at higher RPM and oil pressures.

okay, it's done, i used the EO/IC method instead, very easy to do, except, that i hope i was turning the motor in the right direction, otherwise, you'd adjust during overlap, but i think i did. looking at the front of the block, i turned it clockwise...the oposite valve's lifter was all the way down,. so i guess it was on base circle. ( i hope). anyway, anyone know the intake manifold torue sequence? thanks.

Forget that...I always adjust mine with the engine running. I never go more than a 1/4 turn past zero lash too.
