Free mods ?

I've heard people say free mods on the car what exactly are free mods ?

Free mods off the top of my head:
Proper air pressure.
Advancing timing over factory setting.
Gutting air box (which you probably don't have).
Modified air cleaner (https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/ultimatetbi.shtml).
Remove unnecessary weight.

Of course, if you don't have a timing light or Dremel, these aren't totally free, but after you buy the tools, you'll have them for other projects.

Other examples are improvements over standard replacement parts, like performance ignition components when you do a tune-up, free-flowing air filter, or my favorite, synthetic lubes.

Some low-cost, almost "free" mods: Dual-snorkel air cleaner from two old single-snorkel, homemade adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Idles smooth @ 600 RPM in D. Best 15.02/95.06 @ 5800' Bandimere (corrected 13.93/102.4 @ sea level).

For Tuned Port Injection:
Throttle Body Coolant Bypass
Plenum Porting
