I saw thunderracing has the new vortec style stealth ram intake..my question, which head flows better with stock porting, vortec or alum l98's...i read somwhere the vortecs flow as good as the corvette Lt1 heads...like i said i need this answer within a day or so....which head should i go with, alum l98's or vortech's?

Vortec is a better flowing head stock. If you want them ported then it depends on the guy doing the work. No two are the same.

Check the buy and sell on this site for the going price of both. I don't know the answer cause I haven't bought either lately. You can also run into a deal. I bought a set of LS1 heads for $100 with 11,000 miles on them. Still need to get those ported.

I'd strongly suggest getting your new heads ported if you want to take full advantage of the money you are spending.

I've already considered getting my heads ported, and desided against it...i'm not lookin to go huge power...i just want about 300-350 RWHP...if i get more thats great...but i'm an 18 year old kid, and i have about a grand into my rearend, 1500 into my tranny, and i'm getting intake, cam and valetrain work done to my motor....i know porting will give me full advantage out of those heads, but I don't need full advantage...i want to keep this a very streetable car...so i am keepin the stock port on whatever head i get....is there maybe a better stock head out there that i can get cheap that i can run with a stealth ram intake, or should i just go for the vortecs?

You won't be getting anything close to 300RWHP without extensive porting and then some. Who ever is telling you this stuff don't know what they are talking about. Plenty of knowlegeable folks here, ask as many questions as you like. Don't waste money on stuff that won't meet your expectations.

well i'm making like 210 or 220 to the wheels now with my corvette TPI engine....with an extreme energy(220/230) cam, stealth ram intake, bigger injectors, LT headers, cold air intake, and some other minor stuff, and you telling me i won't gain 100 HP...you kidding me??? i just threw a number out there...how about this...with vortec heads, extreme energy cam, stealth ram intake, full exhaust and evyerhting else, and suspension mods and 3.73's in my rearend, is somewhere in the 12's possible??

I hate to tell you but it is a lot harder than that to gain an extra 100 - 150 RWHP.

Vortecs flow better than any other previous stock head, LT1 included.

Keep in mind that while a stock vortec flows better than a L98 head stock, they are about the same when fully ported.

Just checking, but I guess you know that the Vortec heads have a different intake bolt pattern than the L98s. Your current intake will not work with it.

Also, you're gonna need a custom burned prom to make good power out of your new combo whatever it is. So, you might want to look into burning your own.
